All players are required to have a set handicap registered with Golf Canada. If you do not have a Golf Canada membership you can purchase one through the Pro Shop for $25, which covers part of the Alberta Golf and RCGA fees the course must pay. Please provide (5) 18 hole round scores or (10) 9 hole round scores from 2017 that can be entered in the Golf Canada system and a handicap will be started for you. After that you can login using your username and password and enter your own scores throughout the year to keep your handicap current. This can be done either at The Dunes Golf & Winter Club on the computer in the clubhouse hallway or you can enter your scores on the Golf Canada website or the Golf Canada mobile app (download for free for your smartphone). For more details please contact the Pro Shop for more information at 780-538-4333 or email email@example.com.
Match Play rules apply at all times. Please consult your 2019 RCGA Rules of Golf booklet.
The league has agreed that partners can continue to play as a team for as long as they would like to participate.
Subs may be used as long as they have an established handicap with Golf Canada.
The Dunes Golf & Winter Club has agreed to let members of the Match Play League book tee times two days in advance. Please make sure you have the names of all players to provide to the Pro Shop staff. This privilege is for Ladies’ Match Play tee times only.
- Win 4.0 points
- Tie 2.5 points
- Loss (playing the match) 1 point
- Matches not played 0 (zero) points (unless match is forfeited – see below – then 3 points)
If another team has approached you more than twice, please accommodate a match on the third date. If a team doesn’t show up for a match, they forfeit or concede that match. All matches are to be played by September 15. Teams should make every effort to complete half of your matches before the end of June. July and August are holiday months and it will be harder to contact other players. Please place your signed score-card in the scorecard storage container in the Ladies’ Locker Room and mark your team’s points on the scoring sheet after each match.
If it looks as if you may be rained out, mutually agree before the match begins on how to finish the game. Please give special consideration to those players who pay green fees. You may decide to play in the rain, play remainder of game at a future date, reschedule the entire match, or call the game after “x” number of holes. If there are ties, they will be settled by: 1. Most wins 2. Win/loss record versus each of the tied teams 3. If tied playing each other, win/loss starting at the hardest handicap hole.
Playoffs (Tentative Format. TBD when number of teams registered are confirmed.)
Teams will be in two divisions (A and B). Using a cross-over format, the top 2 teams in Division A will playoff in a Semi-Final Match against the top 2 teams in Division B Division A #1 plays Division B #2 Division B #1 plays Division A #2 The winners of these 2 semi-finals will playoff in a Championship Match. Semi-Final and Championship matches need to be completed between September 16 and September 30. If there are ties within the divisions, they will be settled by: 1. Most wins in a division 2. Win/loss record versus each of the tied teams 3. If tied playing each other, win/loss starting at the hardest handicap hole.
