2019 APEGA/ASET Peace Region Branch Annual Golf Tournament

September 6, 2019

The APEGA and ASET Peace Region branches are pleased to invite you to their Annual Golf Tournament. This tournament is held to give an opportunity to the members of each of these organizations to interact with their peers and colleagues across the various disciplines and industries in which they are involved. This event is not only for members of the Peace Region branches of APEGA or ASET, it is an event that encourages the interaction between the people involved and working at the various companies and organizations in and around the Peace Region that interact with the many members of each of these organizations. Come out and support this event; socialize and network with your colleagues across the Peace Region.

We are going to be supporting the Grande Prairie Food Bank again this year! So once again, during registration we will weigh each person’s individual food bank donation and for each 10 pound increment of donated items we will give the individual a “Mulligan” ticket to use during the golf tournament. A Maximum of 10 “Mulligans” per team, but this doesn’t mean you can’t donate more. At this point in time, the Food Bank is in need of personal items such as shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, etc., but of course non-perishable food items are also acceptable. All the food collected will be donated to the Grande Prairie Food Bank on behalf of the Peace Region Branches of both APEGA and ASET.

2020 Reading University Hole-in-One Tournament

September 10, 2020

  • Details TBD

What is the Reading University?

Reading University is a three week summer program intended to increase the literacy skills of children in grade 3 who are not yet reading at grade level. Reading University was first offered in Grande Prairie in the summer of 2009 with 32 students and 1 district participating. In 2015, 115 students from across our 3 districts graduated from the program. Reading University is an incredible program. It is an early intervention project that addresses literacy outside of the typical classroom setting. Students are bused to and from their “campus”. Everything from supplies to healthy lunches are provided. More importantly, the student/teacher ratio is enhanced to 1 instructor for every 5 children. That ratio drives results and builds confidence in the children. Our professors work miracles! What makes Reading University unique? The program is 100% community funded, it packs a lot of heart, and it works!
