For Ladies that want to advance their golf skills

Rules

Match Play rules apply at all times. Please consult your RCGA Rules of Golf booklet.

World Handicapping System (WHS)

A new handicapping system was introduced in January 2020. To make sure that your scores are being entered correctly for your handicap, please enter your gross score hole-by-hole. The system will make the adjustments for you automatically. The new system is very different from the ESC format.

Details can be found on the Golf Canada website.

Tee Times

The Dunes Golf & Winter Club has agreed to let members of the Match Play League book tee times two days in advance. Please make sure you have the names of all players to provide to the Pro Shop staff. This privilege is for Ladies’ Match Play tee times only.

Rain Outs

If it looks as if you may be rained out, mutually agree before the match begins on how to finish the game. Please give special consideration to those players who pay green fees. You may decide to play in the rain, play remainder of game at a future date, reschedule the entire match, or call the game after “x” number of holes.

Playing Partners and Subs

Playing Partners
The league has agreed that partners can continue to play as a team for as long as they would like to participate.

Subs
Subs may be used as long as they have an established handicap with Golf Canada.

Scoring

Scoring
Win 4.0 points. Tie 2.5 points. Loss (playing the match) 1 point

Matches not played 0 (zero) points (unless the match is forfeited – see below – then 3 points)

If another team has approached you more than twice, please accommodate a match on the third date. If a team doesn’t show up for a match, they forfeit or concede that match.

All matches are to be played by September 12, 2022. Teams should make every effort to complete half of their matches before the end of June. July and August are holiday months and it will be harder to contact other players.

Please take a photo of your scorecard at the end of your round and email it to Trina at trina@ironsdesign.com or text a photo to 780-814-9595.

Playoffs

There will not be any playoffs this year unless there is a tie for first place. If there are teams tied for first place a playoff format will be determined at the end of the regular season. Any other ties will be decided by:

An average of the score on the hardest hole for each player and the combined lowest total of the team breaks the tie.

Example:
#5 is the hardest hole. Take the score from that hole from all 6 matches played by each player and divide by the number of games played. Averages are rounded up (ie 5.75 becomes 6 or 5.4 becomes 5.5)

Team 1
Player A scored: 4-7-5-6-4-4 = 30 for an average of 5
Player B scored 6-6-7-7-5-4 = 35 for an average of 6
Total: 5 + 6 = 11

Team 2
Use the same format as Team 1.
Total: 14

Team 1 will win with a score of 11.

If there is still a tie then move to the next hardest hole and the process will repeat until the tie is broken.
